Foreign Object Damage (FOD) is a major problem for airport management as it can result in costly damage to planes and support vehicles, delays in plane schedules and injury to airport personnel.

FOD debris can include but not be limited to: pavement fragments, rocks, sand, pens, coins, trash, vehicle parts, luggage or cargo items that are broken off, catering supplies, etc. Any of these items can picked up by tires, jet blast, and projected into equipment and personnel, or worse find its way into an aircraft engine.
